BANGKOK --Iran’s futsal team clinched ninth championship title by thrashing Thailand 3-0 in the 10th AFC Futsal Championship 2008 on Sunday in Bangkok, Thailand.

Majid Latifi put Iran ahead in the match which held in front of Thai fans. Top scorer Vahid Shamsaei doubled the score in the first half.
Shamsaei netted twice in the second half and boosted Iran’s chances to lift the cup and captain Mohammasd-Reza Heidarian poured cold water on the hosts’ hopes.
Iran, Thailand, Japan and China secured berths for the World Championship in Brazil later this year following their qualification for the semifinal stage.
The reigning champion Iran has won nine AFC Futsal Championships title out of ten
